The Raleigh Flute Choir in 2004The Raleigh Flute Choir, an ensemble of professional flutists from central North Carolina, was founded in 1986 and has distinguished itself as one of the nation's leading flute choirs. Using traditional concert flutes and piccolos augmented by an E-flat flute, alto flutes, a bass flute and the first contrabass flute in North Carolina, they perform an exciting repertoire spanning the centuries from the Renaissance to the present, including transcriptions and original compositions.

In addition to formal concerts, this chamber group fulfills its mission to both entertain and educate by performing for numerous community events and private functions, sometimes as a trio or quartet. The choir is also a major sponsor of the Raleigh Area Flute Association (RAFA), whose membership includes over 300 flutists of all ages and levels of expertise.

The Raleigh Flute Choir has performed for First Night Raleigh, North Carolina Bach Festival, Raleigh's Artsplosure, Biltmore Estate Christmas Celebration, US Olympic Festival, Colonial Williamsburg Christmas, National Flute Association Annual Conventions, Piccolo Spoleto and White House Christmas Celebrations in 1989, 1993, 1997 and 2001.
