The Second Winds support amateur, adult players. Sunday afternoon meetings strive to make musicians comfortable playing with and in front of others. While participants are encouraged to prepare a piece to share with the group, that is not a prerequisite for attending. Each meeting begins with a group warm-up.

Often the Second Winds will select a theme to explore at each meeting. Material that we have tried so far include:

The Music of Mozart
Duets
The Waltz: traditional to contemporary
Go for Baroque
The Romantics
Dances
Celtic Music
Love Songs
Music from the Twentieth Century
Showtunes
International Music
Asian Themes
Name that Place (music associated with a country or cultural group)
Paint a picture of the nonhuman world
Seasonal music for December
French music

Currently the group meets five or six times per year and newcomers are always welcome. We're great cheerleaders!!! This year we plan on taking the summer off.

Please join us at our next meeting in the fall, 2008:
       September 14...Etudes
Meetings start at 2 p.m. As always, you're encouraged to interpret the meeting theme any way you want. We will gather in the parlor at St. Philip Lutheran Church at 7304 Falls of Neuse Road, which is directly across from Ravenscroft School. Contact Ami Allgeier with questions.
